Siemens will supply the GSM-R system for London Overground

Siemens Transportation Systems has won a contract for the supply of CSR and GSM-R systems for London Overground. The contract was awarded by the Canadian rolling stock manufacturer Bombardier. Under the present contract, Siemens will be responsible with the implementation of the two systems on 44 trains. At present, the GSM-R system is installed and is going to be tested in October this year. UK trains will continue to run as the radio system is implemented. Siemens, which is currently working with Network Rail, the British rail infrastructure manager, will replace the NRN and CSR analogue radio systems, improving therefore railway safety.

At present, Bombardier manufactures the trains that will run on the London railway networks starting with the end of this year.
